Mission Title: Environmental, Electrical, Communications Officer (EECOM)
Mackenzie Lea has attended Columbus Magnet School since Kindergarten and has been in the Young Astronauts program for five years starting in first grade.
Mackenzie has a twin brother named Christopher who is also in the mission. Her older sister, Victoria, also took part in the 2003 mission called Lunar Voyage. Mackenzie hopes that her mission is two times better than her sister’s.
Mackenzie’s school accomplishments are being in the Artistically Talented program and strings since third grade. During fifth grade, she was picked to be on Safety Patrol and entered the Science Fair for the first time. She enjoys math, creative writing, science and language arts.
Outside of school, Mackenzie loves to play soccer, as she has been a player since 1st grade with her travel team. She also likes to explore her interesting waterfront neighborhood with her friends, looking for turtles, crabs, and fish or searching for interesting rocks and shells to add to her extensive collections.
Mackenzie is always working on various art projects, currently working on knick knacks, creating pillows and odd little wire people complete with furniture and other accessories made of clay. Mackenzie enjoys her 18 year old Siamese cat, eating healthy. She has a great sense of humor.
Mackenzie admires her Mom because she is a great cook and very hard working. Mackenzie also admires her sister Victoria because she is very athletic and a dedicated soccer player.
