Welcome From The Principal
My view of what makes a successful school is that many different factors have to be brought together by the educational leader of the school. Some of these factors are:
· Academic achievement is emphasized.
· Discipline is established with rules and regulations and known consequences.
· School climate is positive with a mutual caring and respect for each individual by each individual.
· Teachers need to be dedicated to making their subject matter interesting and alive.
. Parents need to participate in their child’s education.
· Community involvement is critical to a school’s success.
· The physical building needs to be bright and clean as well as safe.
I hope a visitor to our school would very quickly recognize that there is a deep sense of caring about the educational, emotional and physical well being of each individual in the building. I encourage this caring attitude by basing my decisions on the principle of “fairness.” This concept of fairness does not mean equal, but taking each person individually and doing what is best for that individual.
I see my role as a leader and as a helper. Leaders lead by recognizing the strengths of their staff and allowing individuals to use their talents to develop innovative programs and ideas. I believe that I must be available to aid teachers and parents in our main goal - educating our children. My staff is encouraged to challenge themselves to always improve themselves by taking course work, workshops and developing new ideas for their classroom.
For a school to be considered successful it must reach out to its community and seek support and help. The local parent’s group can be a great asset in supporting the school financially. However, even more important is that parents participate in their child’s education by supporting programs of the school, volunteering to help whenever they can, and being involved in their child’s education on a day-to-day basis. The local nursing homes, businesses and community resources (police, fire, library, museum, banks) must be encouraged to participate in the educating of our children. I have enjoyed being an educator for over 30 years and each morning I look forward to going to school to deal with all the day to day problems as well as successes. I am proud of my profession and look forward to the challenges of the future.
