Eli Felber

Mission Title: Payload Specialist

Eli Jacob Felber was born on April 3rd, 1998, at Yale New Haven hospital.  He moved from Branford, CT to Norwalk, CT in 2002.  He came to Columbus Magnet School when he was in 1st grade in 2003, the same year he started Young Astronauts.  Eli has been in Academically Talented since he was in 3rd grade.  He has participated in the science fair 4 times and won it 4 times.  Last year he ran in the Olympic torch run which was very exciting.
This year Eli was elected for student council.  Some of his jobs are to attend meetings and to usher at school assemblies.  Some of his memorable moments are the first grade market, where he learned about making change.  He also enjoyed the second grade world’s fair, where he chose to present New York City.  Eli is very conscientious about getting to school on time.  Last year he won the perfect attendance award.
In the eyes of his parents and friends, Eli is considered a hero.  On June 18th, the last day of school, Eli dialed 911 when his sister’s dress caught fire.  In this situation he was incredibly helpful and calm.  For the rest of the summer, Eli stayed with friends and family.  This situation has made him a stronger person.
Some of his sports interests are bowling, tennis, skate boarding, cricket, ice-skating, bike riding, swimming, ping pong, knock hockey, and rugby.  He has been in the Cal Ripken baseball league for 4 years and flag football league for 1.  He is an avid Mets and Giants fan and has been to many Mets games.  Someday he hopes to go to a Giants game.
He also loves to ski, which he learned to do last year.  Every year he goes to his beach house in Cape May, New Jersey, were he fishes, kayaks and boogie boards.  His family’s house is right on the water, so he gets to see lots of cool animals.  His dad likes to go fishing in their kayak and sometimes he comes home with a shark! Luckily, they are almost always dogfish which are baby sharks.
Eli has been excited about the mission since 1st grade.  His goals are to work through problems with his peers and get stronger with Chief.  Eli will be dedicated to whatever job he receives.
This summer, Eli was fortunate enough to go to ID tech, a computer camp at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.  He learned how to use video game creation, web design and flash animation, and FPS creator.  He built a web site were he posted his game.
He also loves to travel.  Places he has visited are San Francisco, Tennessee, Chicago, Cleveland, and Florida.  Someday he hopes to go to England.
Eli has always been fascinated with baseball and football.  He dreams of becoming a pro sports player.  He also has aspirations to become a lawyer like his dad, uncle and his grandfather.
Eli’s goal in life is to be a good person, have many friends, and have a Bar Mitzvah.  The people Eli admires most in life are his parents.  His dad, Joel, is lots of fun and teaches him about the world.  His mom is also lots of fun and makes awesome banana bread.
