Mission Title: Meteorologist
Ernest Morales was born in the Norwalk Hospital on July 13, 1997. Ernest has black hair, brown eyes, and weighs 95 pounds.
People say he is very funny but when it comes to work, Ernest works very hard. Ernest goes to Horizons once a week to learn more.
There is one question that little kids always ask, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” To him it is a hard question; there’s a lot going in your head when someone hears this question. But Ernest already knows: to be either a doctor or a helpful policeman. Both of these jobs are inspirational and at this time, Ernest is still considering his options. As a doctor Ernest realizes he could help people from getting really sick or getting hurt. As a police officer he could put law breakers in jail. Nevertheless, Ernest’s goal is to be successful person someday.
Ernest is in the 5th grade at Columbus Magnet School and has attended it since kindergarten. He really loves it there because he spends most his time in school. He is a safety, a hall monitor, who tells people to stop running or to move to the right side of the hall. This is a very big responsibility to him. But when he is not working in class he is eating lunch in the cafeteria talking about how good his teachers are with their job.
After school Ernest runs outside, playing football with his best friends. Ernest plays with the Norwalk youth football league; his team is the Ravines. He is good at swimming too and his other interests are basketball, cooking, and reading. Learning is what he wants to do most of the time and will never quit.
The best thing is the Young Astronaut program.
In Young Astronauts children learn about space flight and do a lot of physical training, team work, and use technology. You can learn about who was the first person to walk on the moon. Ernest thinks it’s a good experience for young kids. You can learn that the space shuttle takes off like a rocket, but when it comes back to earth, it lands like a glider. Shuttles can be used over and over again. The shuttle is launched on the back of a huge fuel tank and two extra side rockets that help blast it in to space. After blastoff, the two side rockets drop back to earth on huge parachutes. Rockets are the only machines powerful enough to escape the earth’s gravity pull and travel into space. A rocket is made up of parts called stages. Each one has its own engine and fuel, and it drops off once its fuel runs out.
Ernest’s goal is teamwork because this is what we call social intelligence. Being in Young Astronauts is cool.
The person Ernest admires most is C in C, because he is motivated, nice, and smart.
