Good morning and welcome to the final minutes of Luna Redux. This is Public Affairs Officer, Esha Sharma.
Just moments ago, Luna Redux, finished its 24-hour mission to honor the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 and the first manned lunar landing. Weather conditions in New York Harbor, where the splashdown occurred were less than perfect, but all systems operated perfectly.
The crew of eight has disembarked and is being brought to Norwalk, Connecticut where it, along with the entire team of 16 controllers, will be meeting with the student body of the Columbus Magnet School.
The mission achieved all of its objectives, the most important of which, was to inspire the youth of today with the heroics of the past. Our challenge of today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow. The moon is but our first goal. We returned to Apollo’s glory today, but we aim for the stars tomorrow.
On behalf of all the astronauts and controllers of Luna Redux, this is Public Affairs Officer, Esha Sharma, signing off.
