Mission Title: Flight Director
Mitchell Bartolo enjoys lacrosse, bowling, swimming, skiing, activities in the snow, playing drums, hard rock music and reading. Like his older brother Zachary, who participated in the Project Inspire mission in 2006, Mitchell is excited about, and is looking forward to participating in, the Luna Redux mission.
Mitchell previously came in 2nd place in the Science Fair at Columbus before tying for 1st place this year with his relevant “Astronauts Stretching in Space” project. Mitchell has received many sport, chorus, and music awards and honors. He is a member of the Academically Talented program and was also a National Young Scholars program nominee in recognition of scholastic merit and leadership potential.
Mitchell’s goal is for the team to successfully enter the moon’s orbit, land on the moon, conduct experiments, and return safely with everyone doing his/her part. He hopes to be a positive influence on the younger members of the Young Astronaut program during the training and during the mission itself. Mitchell believes he will always remember this great experience and all the training and hard work, dedication, etc. it takes to learn the skills and develop the teamwork needed to complete the mission tasks.
Mitchell admires his father the most for several reasons. One is because his father is a very intelligent man who has many different kinds of skills and who knows how to make many different kinds of people feel comfortable. Another is because his father is a very caring and nice person that tries to see the good in everyone. Mitchell believes his father is also a very passionate, hard-working person. Mitchell is proud that his father is very dedicated towards his family, co-workers and community and is well-liked by those who know him.
