The district committee has now met four times. Mr. Ziperstein a 2nd grade teacher at Cranbury and Mrs. Ives are on the committee, along with representatives from middle school, high school, central office, the mayor’s office, police and fire.  Goals have been established and we are making good progress toward them.

Two representatives from the Norwalk Police Department’s school security team, Lieutenants Marc Lepore and Brian Cunningham (a Cranbury parent!) conducted an interior and exterior walk-through.  They will be returning again to view our dismissal process and to participate in a school emergency drill.   After interviewing about school safety practices and walking the building they indicated that we were in good shape! They provided some suggestions that we have already begun implementing and will be submitting a list of our needs to the BOE and the city.

We have conducted monthly safety drills and will continue to do so for the remainder of the school year, preparing for different scenarios.
