Dear Parents, Guardians, Family, and Visitors:

The administrators, teachers, and staff of Jefferson Science Magnet would like to welcome you to our web page. This site will provide you with a broad overview of many of our school's characteristics. Our motto is We Help Each Other. This saying encompasses our belief that our administrators, teachers, and staff, as well as students, parents, and community, must work as a team to deliver a cohesive program for the educational and social development of our students.

We pride ourselves on our diversity. We have twenty-six different languages spoken by Jefferson students. It is our appreciation of our differences that allows students and staff to embrace the school as a safe and caring environment in which all children will grow. To further this growth, we have adopted TRIBES, a process which integrates social goals into academic lessons throughout the school day, teaches students to work collaboratively, and develops a school-wide climate of trust and positive interaction.

We also pride ourselves on our science magnet program. Integrated core content units have been developed for all areas of study in science. Jefferson Science Magnet students will graduate from our magnet school after a six year participation in an expansive array of in school and off site experiences seldom offered to elementary children.

Our staff consists of regular and special educators of the highest quality. Jefferson staff has been involved with extensive ongoing science training. These professionals consistently go above and beyond the call of duty to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of our students.
