Naramake Elementary School is named after a Native American Chief - Chief Naramake. The ground on which the school is located was once the home of the Algonkian IndianTribe. After settlers from Europe came to this area, they drove the Indians out of their home land.

The area in which Naramake is located became a farm with an apple orchard. The apple trees still exist on the property today. After a period of time, this area was taken over by the town and was a farm for the poor people and was known as the"Naramake House." After a period of time, and a growing population, the City of Norwalk decided to use this land for an elementary school, hence Naramake Elementary School was built.
