Language Arts: Express ideas orally
Use reference materials

Reading: Harcourt Changing Patterns On Your Mark
Apply decoding skills
Read independently
Apply literal and inferential comprehension Acquire and use new vocabulary

Writing: Express ideas in writing using writing process
Introduce and develop narrative writing skills and apply narrative writing skills to a timed writing situation

Spelling: Harcourt
Apply spelling skills across the curriculum
Spell words from the weekly lists with 90% accuracy

Science: Harcourt Science Text
Acquire knowledge and skills in the following areas:
1. Life Science - Living organisms' interactions with other organisms and the environment.
2. Physical Science - Observing and describing changes in matter.
3. Earth Science - Investigating the Earth's waters and water cycle. Rocks, minerals and fossils.
4. Science in Context - Investigating and conserving the Earth's natural resources.

Social Studies: Harcourt Social Studies Text, Horizons People and Communities
Understand concepts and acquire skills in the following areas:
Maps and Globes
Environments
Native Americans
City Life/Norwalk

Math: Harcourt Math Text
Understanding Numbers, Money and Time, Multiplication and Division Concepts and Facts, Data, Graphing, and Probability, Geometry, Measurement, Fractions and Decimals, and Multiplying and Dividing by 1-Digit Numbers

Homework: Students are responsible for the completion of homework assignments Monday through Thursday


All students will acquire test taking skills and strategies to prepare for the Connecticut Mastery Test
