WELCOME TO THE LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER

The Library Media Center is dedicated to providing quality academic resources and support services in our school. We house over 20,000 volumes for research and enrichment as well as a number of periodicals and newspapers that support the curriculum. The print collection is searchable through Destiny (the online catalog system). Additionally, the Library Media Center offers fantastic online databases that can be accessed anywhere and at anytime through the Internet.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Norwalk High School Library Media Center is to educate its community of students, staff, and family members to be effective users of information and learning resources. To do this, the Library Media Center is committed to providing a warm, caring educational environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, development, and contribution.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Without exception, students are to follow all school rules while in the Library Media Center. Students must also demonstrate respect in terms of general mannerisms, noise level, physical behavior, and handling of materials or equipment. Failure to do so may result in security removal, administration referral, or loss of visitation privilege.

LENDING MATERIALS
Lending period is 3 weeks per material (unless noted by a staff member). Materials may be renewed as many times as needed by students. Specialty items (reference materials, headphones, etc.) may be borrowed with permission and have different return dates. The LMC charges $0.10 per day with a maximum fine equivalent to the purchase price of the material.
