END OF THE YEAR LANGUAGE ARTS FINAL: 6-3 TO 6-5

Starting 6-1: End of the Year Challenges Projects
(class & homework)
Directions: Complete two challenges of your choice
Challenge 1: Create your own 1 Act drama with the elements of stage directions and dialogue. Your drama must have at least 5 scenes and 3 or more characters.
Challenge 2: Create a book of 10 poems that showcase the following: limericks, haikus, narrative, free verse.  Be sure to illustrate the use of rhyme and rhythm.
Challenge 3: Write a short story that illustrates: exposition, conflict, climax and a resolution.  Be sure to use descriptive and figurative language.
Challenge 4: Create mock journal of 10 or more entries that one of the main characters (Esperanza, Cassie, TJ) we read about this year could have created. Be sure each journal reflects emotions and refer to incidents in the plot of the story.
Challenge 5: Recite one of the following poems:  
“Still I Rise” - Maya Angelou  
                     
“I too Sing America”- Langston Hughes                  “America the Beautiful”- Katherine Lee Bates   
“I Love America”- Donna Wade
                
“Freedom Isn’t Free”- Kelly Strong                          “Heroes”-William A Predeau
Challenge 6: Create a book of fables that teach a similar theme.  The lesson should be appropriate and helpful for elementary students. Be sure the final product looks like a book with: cover, title page, table of contents, pictures, and an about the author page.
