PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
It is a privilege to welcome you back to Rowayton School. We also extend a warm welcome to our new families and children. Our school leadership team, faculty and support staff are enthusiastic about providing an educational experience that focuses on the needs of all learners. We exercise thoughtful analysis of data, collaborative professional development and a dynamic instructional program focusing on high expectations and rigorous instruction. We continue with our mission to prepare and deliver an outstanding academic and social/emotional program at Rowayton School.
We are pleased to welcome three new faculty members as well as a returning faculty member to our school team. Miss Abby Bogart will join our outstanding grade one team. Abby most recently was a student teacher with Ms. Baril. Abby completed her undergraduate studies at UCONN and is currently completing her graduate studies at Sacred Heart University. Abby also worked at Pear Tree School prior to coming to Rowayton. She has an exceptional background in technology. Abby also had additional experiences in Arts Education. She also has a background in balanced literacy instruction.
Ms. Patricia Conron is our new grade four teacher. She joins us with over nine years of experience in the Woodcliff Lake, and Warren Township Schools in New Jersey. She also just completed teaching in a Special Education Summer Programin Mamaroneck NY. She is also adroit at meeting the needs of our advanced students as well as our special needs students.
Mrs. Holly Balsinger returns to us from Jefferson School as our Literacy Specialist. Holly replaces Mrs. Kelly Magner who will return to the classroom at Brookside. We thank Kelly for all of her work on behalf of the students and staff at Rowayton School.
This year our School Data Team and Instructional Data Teams will engage in important work whichwill continue our focus on how adult actions lead to student imorvement. We will communicate our work with Data Teams throughout the year. We will also share our School Growth Plan revisions for the new school year in reference to our CMT data.
We are piloting a new numeracy program entitled "Go Math". This will replace our previous numeracy program, "Growing with Math". The Administrative Team and Faculty will participate in Professional Development this year related to this program. "Go Math" Instructional Specialist for Mathematics in the Norwalk Public Schools, will present more informationon the program at our first PTA meeting in Sept.
We are eager to begin our successful before and after school program entitled "After the Bell". The program will continue to focus on academic, recreational and enrichment opportunities for all of our students. We plan on offering some new programs based on parental feedback.
Manuel Llantin, Paul Rosa and Stephan Zipper have worked diligently to prepare the school for opening day. The school looks terrific, thanks to their efforts!
Maranne Carriera, our school secretary, has provided excellent support with registrations as well as all the needed paperwork to begin our school year.
Finally, we are looking forward to hearing about all of the exciting new learning you experienced this summer. The N.F.L. season and the pennant race are right around the corner! We are all excited about the great new school year!
