Health Notice from our School Nurse
Dear Parents:
At this time of the year, I would like to remind you that your child should not be coming to school when she/he is ill, or if you think your child is coming down with an illness.
The closeness of students and teachers in the classroom makes it easy for germs to be passed from one person to another.
Please keep your child home from school if he/she has any of the following symptoms:
· onset of cold or flu symptoms · stomachache
· fever, headache · rash(cause unknown)
· continued coughing · sore throat
· nausea, vomiting · earache
· diarrhea · pinkeye
A child who is tired and not feeling well, will not be able to perform to his or her best abilities in the classroom. If you have any questions or are unsure if your child is well enough to attend school, feel free to call me at school at 899-2950. A child may be readmitted to the classroom if there has been no fever in the preceding 24 hours without fever reducing medicine. Fever is defined as 100 degrees or higher.
Whenever your child is absent from school, a parent's written excuse is needed when your child returns to school. If your child has seen the doctor, a note from the doctor stating why your child was absent and when your child may return to school is needed for the school nurse and/or teacher to have.
It is important that the school be able to contact a parent when a child becomes ill at school. If the emergency information on your child has changed, please inform your child's teacher so that the emergency card may be updated.
Thank you for your cooperation and assistance.
Sincerely,
JoAnn Malinowski, BSN RN NBCSNSchool Nurse
